Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny collapsed on a Tomsk-to-Moscow flight on 20 August 2020 and was evacuated to the Charité hospital in Berlin, where doctors confirmed poisoning by a novichok-class cholinesterase inhibitor. OPCW laboratories and independent German, French, and Swedish labs confirmed the finding. Bellingcat and the Insider published an investigation identifying an FSB team that had surveilled Navalny for years; a phone-call recording in which FSB officer Konstantin Kudryavtsev described the underwear contamination route went viral. Russia denied all involvement and refused to open a criminal investigation.

Claims that school vaccine policies are illegal experiments, depopulation tools, or proof of hidden medical control.

Claims that ballots are routinely destroyed, dumped, or manufactured to alter election outcomes.

Claims that seed oils are a hidden toxin and that detox products or strict elimination protocols cure broad disease categories.

In January 2022 a federal district court ordered the FDA to release Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine clinical-trial documents at a pace far faster than the FDA had proposed (75 years vs the court-ordered monthly schedule). Social-media commentary framed the documents as proving concealed mass harm. In reality, the documents are routine pharmacovigilance data — adverse-event tables compiled because post-market safety surveillance is legally required. The "75 years to hide it" framing misrepresents standard FOIA processing timelines; the underlying documents are real and are publicly available.

On 4 August 2020, approximately 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate stored in Hangar 12 of the Port of Beirut detonated, killing 218 people and injuring more than 7,000. The material had been impounded from the MV Rhosus since 2014 — six years — despite documented warnings from customs officials, state security, and the military that the storage was illegal and dangerous. Lebanese customs chief Badri Daher sent six letters warning of the risk. A State Security report dated 20 July 2020 — 15 days before the explosion — warned of the risk explicitly. Judicial investigations by military judge Fadi Sawan and civilian judge Tarek Bitar were systematically obstructed by political figures linked to Hezbollah and the Amal Movement. No senior official has been held criminally accountable.

On January 26, 2020, a Sikorsky S-76B helicopter crashed near Calabasas, California, killing all nine people aboard, including NBA legend Kobe Bryant and his thirteen-year-old daughter Gianna. Conspiracy theories have alleged insurance or sponsor sabotage, that Kobe was targeted because of non-disclosure agreements, and that weather-forecast data was suppressed. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) completed an exhaustive twenty-one-month investigation and issued its final report in February 2021, attributing the crash to pilot Ara Zobayan's spatial disorientation in instrument meteorological conditions, compounded by the helicopter's lack of a Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS). No evidence of sabotage, foul play, or institutional suppression has been produced.

Claims that secret medical beds can cure severe disease but are hidden by elites or awaiting disclosure.

Wirecard AG, a German fintech (payments processing) once valued at €24B, collapsed in June 2020 after admitting that €1.9B in reported assets "probably did not exist." Multi-year accounting fraud involving forged trust accounts in the Philippines and Singapore.

Claims that Dominion voting machines or coordinated ballot fraud changed the 2020 US presidential election outcome.

On 14 October 2020, the New York Post published a story based on a laptop dropped by Hunter Biden at a Delaware repair shop operated by John Paul Mac Isaac. Twitter locked the Post's account and blocked sharing of the story; Facebook reduced its reach. On 19 October 2020, 51 former intelligence officials signed a letter calling the story "classic Russian disinformation." The Washington Post and New York Times authenticated the laptop contents in March 2022. The Twitter Files (December 2022 onward) and House Judiciary Committee findings documented the suppression decision-making. The core claim — that a legitimate news story was suppressed through coordinated platform and intelligence-community action — has substantial evidentiary support.

Brooklyn drill rapper Bashar Barakah Jackson (Pop Smoke) was shot and killed during a home invasion at a rented Hollywood Hills mansion on 19 February 2020. Five individuals were charged — two adults and three juveniles. LA County DA prosecution documents describe a robbery-gone-wrong triggered after a 15-year-old saw Pop Smoke post his address on Instagram alongside a Rolex gifted to him. The claim that his label, management, or unnamed industry figures orchestrated the killing has no evidentiary basis and contradicts the prosecution record.

In January 2021, retail investors coordinating on Reddit's r/WallStreetBets forum drove GameStop (GME) shares from $17.25 to an intraday peak of $483 on January 28, squeezing Melvin Capital's estimated $5.5 billion short position. On January 28, Robinhood and eight other brokers restricted buying in GME, citing DTCC margin-call requirements. Retail investors alleged that Robinhood's payment-for-order-flow relationship with Citadel Securities — which also provided a $2.75 billion rescue to Melvin Capital — constituted a conflict of interest. The SEC published a 45-page market volatility report in October 2021. A myocarditis safety signal following mRNA COVID-19 vaccines was detected by Israeli health authorities in April 2021. The CDC ACIP confirmed elevated risk in young males at its June 2021 meeting, and FDA + manufacturer labels were updated by July 2021. Peer-reviewed studies (Patone et al Nature Medicine 2022; Le Vu et al Nature Communications 2022) confirmed the signal. Israeli Ministry of Health internal documents released via FOI in 2022 showed earlier internal awareness than public statements. The myocarditis risk in young males (approximately 1-10 per 100,000 doses) and its generally favourable recovery profile are not disputed. Whether the disclosure timeline constitutes 'concealment' or 'appropriate regulatory process' is the contested framing question.

On 3 October 2021 the ICIJ and 600+ journalists across 117 countries published findings from 11.9 million documents leaked from 14 offshore service providers operating in jurisdictions including the British Virgin Islands, Panama, Belize, Cyprus, UAE, Switzerland, and Singapore. The Pandora Papers were the largest offshore financial data leak in history at that point. Subjects included 35 current and former world leaders: Tony Blair (avoided £312,000 in stamp duty via an offshore property acquisition), King Abdullah II of Jordan ($106 million in property acquisitions through offshore vehicles), Czech PM Andrej Babiš (purchased a French Riviera château through a BVI chain), Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family, and Putin associates including Konstantin Ernst and Svetlana Krivonogikh.

Claims that acetaminophen use proves a hidden cause of autism or a suppressed liability conspiracy.

Bill Hwang's Archegos Capital Management, a family office, accumulated approximately $36B in highly leveraged positions via total-return swaps with Credit Suisse, Nomura, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo — concentrating in ViacomCBS, Discovery, Tencent Music, Baidu, and GSX Techedu. When positions moved against Archegos in late March 2021, margin calls triggered a fire sale that caused $10B+ losses for prime brokers ($5.5B at Credit Suisse alone). Hwang and CFO Patrick Halligan were indicted by the SDNY in April 2022. Hwang was convicted on all 10 counts in July 2024 and sentenced to 18 years in November 2024.

A specific claim circulated after January 6, 2021 that Speaker Nancy Pelosi deliberately delayed or refused National Guard deployment to allow the Capitol breach to occur, thereby "setting up" Republicans. The House Select Committee on January 6th documented that Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader McConnell had in fact requested National Guard assistance; the documented delay in deployment occurred at the executive branch and Pentagon level. The setup framing has been refuted by named participants and the documentary record.

Claims that conflict footage is AI-generated, staged, or misattributed, sometimes used to deny casualties or assign false blame.

Claims that COVID vaccination causes sudden aggressive cancers at population scale.

Claims that 15-minute city urban planning is a plot to confine residents to districts.

On October 28, 2022, David DePape broke into the San Francisco home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and attacked her husband Paul Pelosi with a hammer. Within hours, several right-wing figures including Elon Musk and Donald Trump Jr. circulated alternative framings suggesting the attack was staged, a sexual encounter gone wrong, or that glass in the door was broken from the inside by Paul Pelosi himself. San Francisco Police body-camera footage, a federal indictment, the SF District Attorney's filings, DePape's own trial testimony, and a unanimous federal jury conviction in May 2024 all contradict these narratives.

On 8 August 2022, the FBI executed a court-authorised search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, Trump's Palm Beach estate, seizing classified documents. Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump on 37 counts under the Espionage Act and obstruction in June 2023, later expanded to 40. Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case in July 2024; the DOJ appealed; Smith dropped the case in November 2024 after Trump's election victory. The raid is factually documented. The contested questions concern legal propriety, selective prosecution, and the strength of the underlying case — not whether it occurred.

The September 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 underwater natural gas pipelines between Russia and Germany in the Baltic Sea. Attribution has varied: Russia, Ukraine, or US/NATO operation.

Claims that fires or accidents at food facilities prove a coordinated plan to create shortages.

Virginia Giuffre filed a civil suit against Prince Andrew on 9 August 2021 in the Southern District of New York, alleging battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress arising from alleged sexual abuse while she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein. The case settled on 15 February 2022 with no admission of liability. The settlement amount has been widely reported as between $12 million and $16 million, drawn from Queen Elizabeth II's private funds supplemented by Andrew's own contribution. Andrew's HRH titles and military patronages had been removed in January 2022 before the settlement was announced.

Claims popularized by the film Died Suddenly that vaccines caused mass unexplained deaths and fibrous clots.

On November 15, 2022, two people were killed in the Polish village of Przewodów, near the Ukrainian border, when a missile struck a grain-drying facility. Initial wire-service reports citing US officials suggested a Russian missile had hit NATO territory. Within 48 hours, Polish, NATO, and US investigations concluded the missile was a Ukrainian S-300 surface-to-air missile that had fallen on Polish territory while attempting to intercept incoming Russian missiles. Poland and NATO publicly stated this was not a deliberate attack by Russia or Ukraine. The "Russia attacked NATO" framing and subsequent counter-claims were debunked by official investigation.

Claims that BRICS currency launches or summit dates will abruptly end the U.S. dollar.

Claims that U.S.-backed Ukrainian laboratories were creating bioweapons, used in geopolitical disinformation.

The documented failure and subsequent cover-up of the police response to the May 24, 2022 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and 2 teachers were killed. Officers waited in the hallway for 77 minutes while the shooter remained in a classroom with surviving children and their mothers pleading outside.

TerraUSD (UST) was an algorithmic stablecoin designed by Terraform Labs and its CEO Do Kwon. In May 2022, the UST peg collapsed, triggering a "death spiral" that wiped approximately $40 billion in market value within days. The SEC filed fraud charges in February 2023. Do Kwon was arrested in Montenegro in March 2023 and extradited to the United States in 2025. Evidence at trial showed Kwon and colleagues had privately known the stablecoin mechanism was fragile and had concealed its prior near-collapse in May 2021.

Beginning in December 2022, Elon Musk released internal Twitter documents to journalists including Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss, Lee Fang, and Michael Shellenberger. The releases documented FBI Foreign Influence Task Force weekly teleconferences with Twitter, DHS flagging of content for moderation, and internal deliberations around the Hunter Biden laptop story. The Supreme Court dismissed Murthy v. Missouri on standing in June 2024 without reaching First Amendment merits. The documented FBI-platform communications are real; whether they crossed constitutional lines into unlawful coercion is legally unresolved.

Claims that ESG investing is a secret social-credit system that will directly control individual purchases.

On January 8, 2023, thousands of supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro stormed and ransacked the Presidential Palace, the National Congress, and the Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF) in Brasília — Brazil's Three Powers Plaza. Two framings have competed since: that the events were a spontaneous protest that got out of hand; and that they were a coordinated coup attempt with logistical support and advance planning from within Bolsonaro's outgoing administration. Brazilian Federal Police investigations and STF indictments have substantially supported the second framing while acknowledging that many participants were swept up in the moment rather than part of any central conspiracy.

On 24 January 2023, US short-seller Hindenburg Research published an 88-question report alleging that the Adani Group — the Indian conglomerate controlled by Gautam Adani — had engaged in stock manipulation, accounting fraud, and illegal parking of shares through a network of offshore entities in Mauritius, the UAE, and the Cayman Islands. The report triggered a market-cap decline exceeding $150 billion across Adani group companies. India's Securities and Exchange Board (SEBI) opened an investigation that remained ongoing through 2025. A 2023 OCCRP investigation separately linked offshore entities to Gautam Adani's brother Vinod Adani. Hindenburg itself shut down in January 2025. The verdict is partially true: the market reaction and offshore structure allegations have documented basis; the stock manipulation and accounting fraud charges were neither fully proven nor fully refuted by regulators as of mid-2026.

On 7 October 2023 Hamas launched a large-scale attack from Gaza into southern Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking roughly 250 hostage. Hamas publicly claimed responsibility. Three distinct conspiracy sub-claims have circulated: (1) Israel had advance warning and deliberately allowed the attack; (2) Israeli casualty figures were fabricated or exaggerated; (3) Israel staged or orchestrated the attack. The first reflects documented intelligence failures with an unverified "deliberate stand-down" extrapolation. The second is contradicted by forensic documentation from multiple international teams. The third is directly contradicted by Hamas's own public claims of responsibility and captured combatant evidence.

Claims that raw milk cures disease or is being suppressed because it outperforms medicine.

Between 28 January and 4 February 2023, a Chinese high-altitude balloon transited the continental United States from Alaska to the Atlantic coast, where it was shot down by a US F-22 fighter jet off the coast of South Carolina on 4 February. China's public position was that it was a civilian meteorological balloon that had strayed off course. The Pentagon's initial public framing described it as a surveillance balloon. Subsequent Defense Department analysis, Navy recovery of debris from the seafloor, and congressional briefings confirmed the balloon carried surveillance and intelligence-collection equipment inconsistent with civilian weather use. The "civilian weather balloon" framing is debunked by the recovered hardware. The scope of any intelligence actually collected, and the degree of intentionality in the overflight, remain subjects of classified analysis and contested public characterisation.

On February 3 2023, a Norfolk Southern freight train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, sending 38 cars off the tracks. Eleven cars carried hazardous materials including vinyl chloride. On February 6, Norfolk Southern and local officials conducted a controlled burn of vinyl chloride to prevent a potential boiling-liquid expanding-vapor explosion; the burn released hydrogen chloride and phosgene into the air. Conspiracy framings have alleged deliberate media suppression, water test manipulation, and a coordinated cover-up of health impacts. NTSB, EPA, and Ohio EPA investigations found documented response failures. The "deliberate cover-up" framing goes beyond documented negligence and response errors.

On November 17 2023, the OpenAI board of directors fired CEO Sam Altman without warning, triggering a five-day crisis in which nearly 700 employees threatened mass resignation and Microsoft pressured the board to reinstate him. Altman was reinstated on November 21 with a reconstituted board. Multiple framings of the event circulate as conspiracy claims: an "AI safety coup" by board members who believed Altman was recklessly commercialising dangerous technology; a "Microsoft-orchestrated power grab" to install compliant leadership; and allegations that board member Helen Toner's academic paper criticising OpenAI was the proximate trigger. Evidence partially supports the safety-framing; the Microsoft-coup framing is more contested; Toner's paper role is documented but disputed as decisive.

Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin died on 23 August 2023 when a private Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft crashed between Moscow and St Petersburg, killing all ten people on board, including Wagner commander Dmitry Utkin and senior figure Valery Chekalov. The crash occurred exactly two months after Prigozhin led the June 2023 Wagner mutiny — a short-lived armed march on Moscow that ended with a negotiated deal brokered by Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko. Putin offered public condolences. A Wall Street Journal investigation published in April 2024 reported that Western intelligence attributed the crash to an onboard bomb, with FSB involvement. No Russian investigation has produced a transparent public finding.

In September 2024 a federal grand jury indicted Sean "Diddy" Combs on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, and transportation for purposes of prostitution. Combs has denied all charges. Civil suits from multiple plaintiffs preceded the indictment. A broader conspiracy framing — that the case exposes a systemic trafficking network embedded across the music industry, and that powerful figures are suppressing evidence — has circulated widely but goes significantly beyond the documented indictment.

In late 2023 and early 2024, claims circulated — amplified by figures including Vivek Ramaswamy and Fox News commentators — that Taylor Swift is a Pentagon- or CIA-coordinated psychological operation, tied to her public relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The specific claims included that her appearances at NFL games were engineered to deliver pro-military or pro-Democratic messaging to young women. Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh publicly denied any operational involvement in January 2024. Reuters, AP, Snopes, and other fact-checkers found no evidentiary basis for the claim. Swift's relationship with Kelce is documented in ordinary reporting.

US Air Force veteran and former NGA intelligence officer David Grusch's 2023 whistleblower testimony to Congress alleging a decades-long, classified US crash-retrieval and reverse-engineering program involving "non-human" craft and biologics.

Claims that real crisis footage, victims, or witnesses are AI-generated fabrications.

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapsed on 10 March 2023 in the second-largest US bank failure in history. Conspiracy claims attributed the failure to coordinated short-selling campaigns or deliberate destabilisation by financial actors. Federal Reserve, FDIC, and congressional investigations attributed the collapse to SVB's concentration of approximately $91 billion in long-duration mortgage-backed securities purchased at near-zero interest rates, which lost market value as rates rose. When SVB announced a $1.8 billion realised loss from selling securities on 9 March, a Twitter-accelerated bank run ensued. Short-seller conspiracy claims are unsupported.

Claims that real disaster survivors, victims, or witnesses are AI-generated fabrications, often based on compression artifacts or synthetic-media panic.

Claims that the Maui/Lahaina wildfires were deliberately caused or exploited as a coordinated land-grab operation.

Claims that FedNow is a CBDC or religious control system tied to mark-of-the-beast narratives.

In 2024, two men who had raised safety concerns about Boeing aircraft died under circumstances that attracted intense scrutiny. John Barnett, a former Boeing quality manager who was mid-deposition in a lawsuit against the company, was found dead in his pickup truck on March 9 2024 in North Charleston, South Carolina; the Charleston County Coroner ruled the death a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Joshua Dean, a Spirit AeroSystems quality control inspector who had raised concerns about defects in the 737 MAX fuselage, died in May 2024 of a rapid MRSA infection at age 45. The conspiracy framing — that Boeing or its allies eliminated both men to silence their testimony — is the active claim. Official rulings for both deaths are documented; no direct link to Boeing action has been established.

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny died on 16 February 2024 at Penal Colony IK-3 "Polar Wolf" in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. He had been transferred there from IK-6 Melekhovo in December 2023 — a move widely described as punitive. Russian prison authorities stated the cause of death as "sudden death syndrome." Western intelligence agencies, including the US ODNI, assessed that Putin most likely ordered Navalny's killing. Navalny's widow Yulia Navalnaya publicly accused Putin of murdering her husband. The death is real and documented; whether it was state-orchestrated or resulted from natural causes remains contested between official Russian claims and Western intelligence assessments.

On 13 July 2024, Thomas Matthew Crooks fired on a Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, grazing Trump's ear and killing audience member Corey Comperatore. Crooks was shot dead by counter-snipers. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned following congressional pressure. Senate HSGAC and a bipartisan House Task Force launched investigations. The inside-job framing — that security failures were deliberate — is not supported by FBI findings or congressional conclusions, which attribute failures to coordination breakdowns and resource shortfalls.

In November–December 2024, a wave of unidentified drone sightings over New Jersey and surrounding states generated significant media and political attention. NJ Governor Phil Murphy, FBI, FAA, and DHS acknowledged the sightings but offered no definitive explanation. Multiple theories circulated: foreign-adversary surveillance, US military testing, hobbyist drones, misidentified aircraft. The FBI and DHS investigation concluded that many sightings were explained by misidentified commercial aircraft, hobbyist drones, and stars/planets. The "foreign adversary surveillance" and "advanced military testing" framings remain unsubstantiated.

Claims that avian-influenza outbreaks are staged or engineered as a planned pandemic, food-control program, or vaccine-market operation.

On December 3 2024 at approximately 22:30 KST, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law in a live televised address, citing "anti-state forces" and North Korean infiltration of the National Assembly. The National Assembly convened an emergency session and voted unanimously to lift the declaration approximately six hours later; troops that had been deployed to the Assembly were withdrawn. Yoon was impeached by the National Assembly on December 14 2024, arrested on January 15 2025 by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, and subsequently convicted of insurrection by a court. The conspiracy element — Yoon's framing that opposition lawmakers were North Korean-linked anti-state agents — was the justification for the declaration and was not supported by public evidence.

Claims that FEMA disaster aid is a pretext to confiscate land, supplies, or children after emergencies.

Project 2025 is the informal name for a policy initiative led by the Heritage Foundation, formally titled "Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise." Published openly in 2023, the 900-page document lays out detailed proposals for restructuring the federal executive branch. During the 2024 campaign, Trump publicly distanced himself from it; after January 2025, multiple Project 2025 contributors joined the administration. The document and its authors are publicly known. The conspiracy framing — that it constitutes a secret shadow-government playbook being covertly implemented — overstates what is already openly documented.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), created by executive order in January 2025 with Elon Musk as a senior advisory figure, identified real inefficiencies and duplicate payments in federal contracting. A conspiracy framing built on this foundation claims that DOGE uncovered explosive evidence of trillions in hidden slush funds or systemic fraud that is being suppressed by the deep state, congressional leadership, or the administrative bureaucracy. GAO and Inspector General reports confirm real but limited waste findings; the "suppression of explosive revelations" framing is unsubstantiated.
