There's no solid evidence for it.

The artifacts exist and a replica can generate roughly 0.5–2 volts, so the 'a jar like this can act as a cell' point is legitimate. But no archaeological evidence shows the jars were ever used electrically: no wires or external terminals, no electroplated objects have ever been found from the ancient Near East, the copper tube is sealed inside asphalt rather than wired to anything, and no ancient text mentions electricity. Nearly identical vessels at nearby sites held papyrus scrolls and organic remains. The scholarly consensus — scroll or spell storage, not a power source — is essentially unanimous. The battery reading is capability mistaken for intent.
