Is it true: Gobekli Tepe and the Lost Civilization Claim?
There's no solid evidence for it.
Göbekli Tepe is real, securely dated to roughly 9500 BCE, and genuinely revolutionary: it showed that monumental architecture predates farming and pottery. But nothing at the site indicates metallurgy, writing, advanced technology, or a global 'mother culture'; it is masterful Neolithic stone-working by hunter-gatherers. The 'lost advanced civilization' reading rests on a debunked comet hypothesis and misreadings of the evidence, not on anything excavated at the site.
The claim
Göbekli Tepe proves that a technologically advanced civilization existed before the last Ice Age ended, was destroyed in a cataclysm, and seeded agriculture, architecture and astronomy to later cultures.
